This September, I’m Going The Distance to help patients with cancer at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.

As someone who’s been a patient at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse for the past 12 months, I can’t begin to express how incredible the care has been. Every step of the way, the support, compassion and professionalism I’ve experienced has truly made a difference - and continues to do so.

I’m now taking the opportunity to give a little something back to the place that has given me so much. If you’re able to donate, it would mean the world - not just to me, but to all the cancer patients who will walk through those doors in the future.

I’ve reached another milestone—and this one feels especially significant.

Over the last 12 months I had several milestones that I set for myself, and I’ve been able to cross most of them off.

It began with making it through surgery, getting discharged from hospital, completing radiation, returning to work… and finally, the big one: getting through the first 12 months post-surgery without a recurrence.

I’m incredibly relieved and grateful to say I’ve made it. It’s been 12 months without a recurrence of my cancer. 🙏✨

That’s not to say there haven’t been a few close calls along the way—but thankfully, the dice rolled in my favour this time.

I’ve been very lucky to have my family and a great team at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse alongside me for every step of the journey.
