This September I’ve signed up to Go the Distance and have set myself a goal of walking 80km to raise funds for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
This one is particularly close to my heart because of my work. After 15 years managing Macarthur Surgical Centre alongside Dr Jas Singh, I’ve seen firsthand the journey our patients face when diagnosed with head and neck cancer.
Dr Singh performs surgery on many of our head and neck cancer patients, with their treatment often involving the multidisciplinary cancer teams at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. From my side of things, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know these patients and their families and supporting them through appointments, surgery, recovery and follow-up.
You become invested in their journeys, celebrate the good news with them and see just how much expert cancer care and support can mean during one of the most frightening times in their lives.
So this September, I’m walking 80km for them. ❤️
With my work hours, 80km is definitely going to challenge me 😂 — but I wanted to choose a goal that actually meant something.
80km. One month. For our patients and everyone facing cancer. 👟❤️

Good on you, let me know if you want a walking partner 😉
