This September, I’m Going The Distance for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse - walking and running 250Kms in 30 days and aiming to raise $1,000 to help provide exceptional care and support for people facing cancer.
And I’ll admit it: this is going to be a challenge! It’s been a long time since I’ve set myself a physical goal like this, and averaging more than 8Kms a day for a month will definitely push me.
But the reason I’m doing it, is very personal.
Like so many people, I’ve seen cancer affect people I love. But none more so than my Mum. I’ve seen firsthand the extraordinary care, compassion and support she received while at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, and the difference that makes not only to the person facing cancer, but to the people who love them too.
So, from 1 September, I’m going to lace up my shoes and keep moving.
Every kilometre I walk or run will help Chris O’Brien Lifehouse continue to provide compassionate, research-driven cancer care and holistic support for patients and their families.
